BIRTH REGISTRATION IN PORTUGAL
The birth of an individual who has the right to obtain Portuguese nationality must be registered at Portuguese Consulate of respective jurisdiction area (the area of this Consulate includes the States of New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Delaware).
MINORS YOUNGER THAN 14 YEARS:
- Full transcript of Birth Certificate of the minor to be registered. If this certificate is proceeding from another consular area, it must be first legalized by respective Portuguese Consulate;
- One photo, updated and in color;
- Full transcript of birth certificates from each parent, with marriage already registered;
- It is mandatory the simultaneous presence of both parents (with respective ID documents) at Consulate, and, if Portuguese, they should bring a passport-size photo if not yet registered at Consulate.
MINORS OLDER THAN 14 YEARS (but less than 18 years):
Same as above, plus the minor´s passport.
Fees: USD 21.32 (translation of the birth record).
18 YEARS OLD AND OLDER:
Same as above, except parents´ ID documents and presence.
It is mandatory the applicant presence.
